The first crunchy leaves are here
Hi!
I’ve smelled that autumn smell in the air a few times this week, my girls are begging to wear mittens on our bike ride to school in the morning (even though it’s in the 80s by the afternoon), the leaves are starting to crunch, it’s almost here. I love fall but I especially just love to notice the changes in the seasons and to pay attention to what food is ripe and ready to eat now. Late summer and autumn bring such a bounty and so many fun things to make with it.

Weeknight Meals
This is a crustless quiche, but tbh I wished there was a crust! You can use a frozen pie crust and blind bake it before adding in the filling.
Even better leftover for breakfast somehow.
Or with chicken. Spicy and different from the norm if you’ve been stuck in a taco rut like we sometimes get into.
It’s zucchini season and I’ve shared this before, but it’s a favorite and I wanted to bring it back to your attention in case you haven’t made it yet.
This recipe also looks delicious to me, but I haven’t tried it yet. A great one for in between the seasons as its cozy but uses those summer veggies.
Weekend Meal
Indonesian Peanut Chicken Salad
I love the flavors of this salad, especially the combination of pineapple and peanut sauce is so surprising. Tofu would be excellent in place of the chicken.
Treat of the Week
The plums are perfectly in season right now, but you can use any stone fruit for this legendary cake. I just found some plums today and I will be making it this weekend.
Something to Listen to
This week’s podcast talked about food and drink pairings with books. So fun and had me wanting to make some plans. Making fun smacks is one of my favorite parts of book club.
I hope you have a wonderful first week of fall.
